SIMPLE CRESCENT SHAWL& SCARF KNITTING PATTERN
Rep the
Increase Row
every row
until you reach
des size or run
out of yarn. Reserve
~10g of yarn for
BO row.
Loosely BO all sts, cut yarn, pull thru last st.
Work regular BO for a smooth edge. Work Picot BO for a decorative edge. It's a couple extra steps & is lovely.
Picot Bind Off:
Bind off 2 sts normally.
Slip 1 st (the st just worked) Purlwise from RNH to LHN. Then CO 3 stitches using the Knitted Cast On (see below).
Loosely Bind off 5 stitches.
Rep steps 2 & 3 until 1 st rem.
Cut yarn and pull thru last st.
Knitted Cast On:
1. Insert tip of RHN into the next st and K1 - but do not drop the stitch just worked off the needle. 2. Slip this new stitch snuggly onto the LHN. One st has been cast on. Repeat Steps 1-2 for des number of new sts.

As it's worked, this scarf grows in a crescent shape. The straight, top edge of the scarf is on the needle. The curved edge grows as you knit.
Materials:
1 ball DK or Bulky weight yarn
(~200 yds +)
Knitting needles in appropriate size (
US6-US8 for DK, US9-US11 for Bulky)
(Circular needles are helpful for larger projects.)
Optional Stitch Markers.
Pattern:
Loosely CO 13 sts. Knit one row.
Increase Row:
K2 sts, M1, K until 2 sts rem on LHN, M1, K2.
Picot Bind Off:
1.Bind off 2 sts normally.
2.Slip 1 st (just worked) Purlwise from RNH to LHN. Then CO 3 stitches using the Knitted Cast On
3.Loosely Bind off 5 stitches.
Rep steps 2 & 3 until 1 st rem. Cut yarn and pull thru last st.
